GIFT CARDS!
Gift Cards to local Kane County businesses that provide a wide range of products and services (e.g. Walmart, Target, Meijer, etc.) or casual dining establishments (e.g. Portillos, Culvers, McDonalds, etc.) are VERY VALUABLE!
The Foundation uses these to recognize participant milestone accomplishments. These range from gaining employment, completing an education program, significant sobriety milestones, etc.
EASY ITEMS THAT THE PARTICIPANTS NEED!
Smaller duffle bags or reusable bags for when clients need hygiene or clothing items
Back packs
Travel size shampoo, deodorant (men and women), and soap or body wash.
HOLIDAY TOYS FOR CHILDREN!
MORE TO COME CLOSER TO THE HOLIDAY SEASON.
Each holiday season we collect children and youth toys. These are provided to court participants based on how many children they have and their ages.
Participants are frequently not in a financial position to provide toys for their children. Since we strive to bring families closer together as a strong foundation of the recovery process, providing a parent with the ability to give their children presents is one way to strengthen that bond.
As the holiday season draws closer, we will have a list of families (anonymous) with the number and age of their children. Supporters can then select a family to support. Gifts are typically to be around $25 in value.
THANKSGIVING PIES FOR PARTICIPANTS!
We purchase a very large number of pumpkin pies for court participants. This enables them to provide for their family and, if they choose, bring a pie to a family gathering.
Again, building a strong family bond is very important in the recovery process.
