Our MISSION is to support the hard work of life transforming second chances for Specialty Court participants

Who We Are

We are a 501c3 non-profit organization of community members that has been  established to support Kane County’s four Specialty Court programs that have been shown to be  so effective.  We supplement the work of the Courts by providing vital assistance that goes  beyond the judicial system’s legislated role.  The Foundation relies exclusively upon the  generous donations of community members.  We receive no tax payer funds!

Our Purpose

The Foundation’ mission is to support the hard work of life  transforming second chances for participants in the Specialty Courts. We partner with the  justice system to help enable these participants to achieve healthy, sober lives as productive  members of our community.

What Are “Specialty Courts”?

Our Kane County communities and families suffer from  the tragic effects of mental illness and substance abuse.   Crime, physical abuse, suicide, and  broken families are among the consequences.

Kane County has designed and established four Specialty Courts to identify justice-involved  individuals with clinically diagnosed substance abuse and mental health disorders in order to  get them treatment so that they can return to being productive community members.

These Courts include:

-  Drug Rehabilitation Court (DRC)

-  Treatment Alternative Court (TAC)

-  Veterans Treatment Court (VTC)

-  DUI Court

These provide court-supervised treatment, accountability, and mentoring.  These programs are  12 to 24 months in duration and include intensive monitoring by specially trained probation  officers.

What We Do?

We provide essential supplemental support to participants to assist them to successfully  complete their treatment and court-mandated activities.  This support includes:

-  Program milestone recognition (Gift Cards)

- Counseling services (when other resources are unavailable)

- Required medications (when other resources are unavailable)

-  Support for participant social events (Family days, Holiday events, Cougar games, etc.)

-  Inpatient necessities (Clothing, personal items, etc.)

- Emergency housing assistance, clothing and food

-  Support Group Meetings

-  Treatment Graduations celebrations

-  Transportation assistance

-  Program materials for Court Coordinators

We depend upon the generosity of the community! We are not funded with tax dollars.
